Learn how to shape your writing skills surrounded by the summer glories of the Wye Valley. Day courses are held near the lovely Wye-side village of Redbrook, a couple of miles from the ancient market town of Monmouth.

Whether you are a complete novice or a writer with some experience, our tutors will help you hone and focus your talents.

Good writing combines both skill and inspiration, and knowing the tricks, tips and potential pitfalls of the craft is crucial. Tutors CJ Emerson and Claire Hamilton are experienced writing coaches and published authors of both fiction and non-fiction. CJ Emerson runs a successful online writing course and Claire Hamilton is a former tutor at the Forest of Dean College.

Workshops are held at The Grove, an imaginative and wonderful writers' retreat perched in an idyllic spot above Redbrook, surrounded by walking country and commanding panoramic views over the valley.

The course combines teaching with ample opportunities for you to write and benefit from supportive feedback in a friendly and relaxed setting. Sessions will cover topics such as dialogue, setting, character creation, finding ideas,  story shaping  and creative non-fiction.
